In the Suginome group, a variety of research projects are pursued on the basis of synthetic organic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, main group metal chemistry, transition metal chemistry, polymer chemistry, asymmetric synthesis, etc. Our research projects always involve new design of synthetic strategy, reagents, reactions, and products for the discovery of innovative synthetic methods, new molecular functions, new concept, new phenomena, new principles, etc.

We are interested in utilizing "carbonoid" elements, which actually are metalloid elements that show high affinity to carbon. Boron and silicon are particularly interesting, serving as key elements in our chemistry.

We are also interested in developing new synthetic strategies for single-handed helical polymers and new applications of thus synthesized chiral helical macromolecules.
